OmniFocus GTD Review at AppleBriefs

Jeff Kabbe at AppleBriefs has just posted an in-depth review of OmniFocus, a program designed to implement the Getting Things Done paradigm of organizing all the stuff that needs doing in life. This is the second part of a projected four-part series where Jeff reviews different GTD applications for Mac OSX. I’m currently [...]

  • Journler Review. Pete Summerill writes the MacLitigator blog and has just posted a very interesting piece on Journler, a mysterious Mac app that Pete is using to do a lot of what Casemap does on Windows. I confess that Casemap was just too labor intensive for me; Journler seems easier to use. Here's hoping Pete will do a screencast to complement his post, demonstrating how he organizes a file using Journler. Well worth a careful read. #
  • Things GTD Review. Jeff Kabbe at Apple Briefs has written an extensive review of a program called Things. I've been using a beta version for the past three weeks; it's a very intuitive application of David Allen's Getting Things Done (GTD) approach to organizing life. Check it out. #
  • Daylite 3.7.1 Released. Marketcircle has released an upgrade to Daylite 3.7. This release contains bug fixes and some improvements to the Daylite calendar. Full release notes tell the tale. #
  • More Resources for Switchers. Via Criminal Defense Law with an Apple. Here's another resource for the new switcher to Macs. Read the comments for more ideas about how to make a smoother transition. #
  • New Mac Video Tutorial Section. Apple Insider reports that Apple has a new website section called "Find Out How" designed to make fence-sitters more willing to take the jump. Have a look. #
  • David Pogue on Word 2008 and MacSpeech. A brief review of two new programs that I'll be demoing soon. I've never used voice recognition software before, being a pretty fast typist, but what he says about MacSpeech sounds enticing. #
  • A Guide for Mac Switchers. Over at LifeHacker, you'll find a concise, helpful article with lots of pics and links for making the switch to Macs. A Guide for Switching to the Mac isn't David Pogue's Missing Manual, but it's really good stuff nevertheless. Should help with the learning curve. #

Welcome to a mac lawyer’s notebook

I’m moving to Macs and writing about the experience. This blog focuses on two areas: (1) how I’ve planned and implemented the move and (2) how I’m using Mac software in my practice. Plus whatever else I might find interesting. I’ll even try my hand at video podcasting as a kind of Show and Tell about work processes. Hope you’ll find something useful!
