Screencast 2–Document Management in Daylite

This latest screencast modifies the Opportunity record in Daylite to track certain documents. (Right-click on the link to download.) At 37 minutes, it’s a bit long, but it gives you a good overview of one approach to document mangement using an object in Daylite that otherwise would not merit much attention.

There’s much more that could be discussed that I omitted from the screencast: File naming conventions, scanning documents and creating document records from those scanned docs, more about the file path in the FTP login widget described in the previous screencast. Not enough time and the thing is ponderous as it is.

Review the show notes I wrote several weeks back for more information about this screencast. Hope it’s helpful!

  1. I am SOO glad you put out these screencasts. I think they are just great. I just find DL to be quite obtuse even with videos on the DL website.

I find that your screencasts really help explain how to use DL.

Keep up the great work (and make more screencasts)!

  2. Love the screencasts, but where have you gone, did you switch back to PC’s?!

” . . . did you switch back to PCs?”

Perish the thought! Just been swamped at work. But I’ve got a bit of clear sailing ahead so I hope to get a few more screencasts out the door(especially the one on merging) within the next few weeks. I’m also about to make the switch to Macs at the office so will be posting on how I’m doing that as well. Still love Macs, just not enough time in the day!

  4. Loved the first screencast, but I can’t make this one play. I keep getting the error message 2048 - couldn’t open the file because its not a file quicktime understands. Any thoughts on how to view the screencast?

  5. Did a quick google on error message 2048 and it doesn’t appear that the problem is with the file. Haven’t had any other complaints. If I run across a fix I’ll let you know. It’s a shame cause I like that second screencast a lot better than the first! Hope you get it working.
